Role Description
Arrivant is in need of an Environment Artist looking for a place and community where you can make a real impact. Along with the Art Director’s vision, you will be responsible for defining the look for amazing and fantastic worlds and actively involved in day-to-day art production. The Environment Artist will be a key member of the team helping shape our worlds into spaces that will delight our community. You will collaborate with other disciplines to set quality standards for the game using in-depth knowledge of techniques and technical approaches. You will be working on Arrivant’s tentpole project within an experienced team of people who have a passion for creating games and worlds. The ideal candidate should have a strong history demonstrating an exceptional eye for detail, creative flair, and a drive for excellence.
  • Own and deliver large areas of the game environment
  • Create inspiring benchmark-quality environment assets
  • Ensure the delivery of visual consistency by understanding and following the art direction
  • Where needed, research, collate, and prepare reference and source materials as required for the creation of in-game environments
  • Use your deep knowledge and understanding of the product to enable the best visual decisions and appropriate artwork
  • Ensure the technical delivery of your work (budgets, lighting, etc.)
  • Help to encourage, promote, and build good team morale in an open, creative environment
  • Work collaboratively with the team to produce the best player-focused interactive experience
  • Your portfolio should demonstrate full environment work (i.e., not just props) across modeling, surfacing, set dressing, and lighting
  • Experience going through multiple full-game development cycles
  • Ability to work in an iterative approach in visual development
  • Experience creating photorealistic set pieces, props, textures, and materials on next-gen platforms
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of memory and frame budget prioritization
  • Strong technical knowledge of real-time engine budgets and optimizations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Have a passion for games and understand game development processes
  • Professional attitude and work ethic
